First off to anyone reading this all opinions are welcome, Im a rather opinonated individual, so hopefully I can get other peoples views on this. Plus I just feel like venting, one of those days I guess.
I stopped this morning and filled my truck up, 122 bucks for 24 gallons at 4.85 a gallon, yeah it wasnt empty. That is just crazy, anyone else here remember when it was $ 1.50 a gallon five years ago, thats B.S
This is going to drive this country down the tubes alot faster than people can realize. $5 Diesel fuel means $5 a gallon heating oil this winter. This is seriously going to put the screws on the population, has anyone though of the the ramifications of this? What about the elderly living on social security and retirement checks that are based on incomes from 20 years ago. Better yet take Ny my state for example, I honestly think we have the largest welfare program in the states and 90% of them are just lazy scumbags who dont want to work, they want handouts. Well the state pays for there heating, which in turn comes out of my pocket, well with the prices going up that is going to eventually cause a tax increase, pretty much taking mre money out of my pocket.
How about the farmers who produce all the milk and meat we consume in this country? The price of fuel drives up there cost all the way around, from the supplies they need, to the fuel they run in equipment. Yes the price of milk has gone up in the last few years, how many of you honestly think it made it back to the farmer though. I hope no one says yes. With inflation the modern farmer makes as much as he did in 1972, what else in any field has stayed like that? Farmers cost have gone up about 600% since then?
SO who is to blame for this? Well there are alot of different responses for this everyone has their own view. Some want to blame BIG OIL, some want to blame OPEC. Well just from a little research I have done this is what I have found. Exxon Mobile make 8 cents a gallon on gas, yes they make billions of dollars a quater in problems but think of the volume the move, sit down and think of how much you use in a year, the multiply that by everyone in the world that buys gas. Starts to equal very big numbers. How many of you own a buisness of any sort? If your like me you want to make a profit. Exxon runs at 7% profit its all volume. The average buisness runs at 12% profit.
Now lets focus on taxes on gas, Its all a percentage. At 3.50 a gallon you are paying 60 cents in taxes, well in my great state of NY I pay 18 cents a gallon just to my state, the rest goes to the Fed. Well what to the do for this money besides hold out their hand, they to ship it they dont refine it they dont handle it, but the collect the money, and in the end I think we have some of the worst roads in the country.
Yesterday as many know congress had the heads of the oil companys up for questioning, they wanted to know why the price is so high, Well lets see. We cant drill in Anwr, cause it will destroy it, well im an outdoorsman and a sportsman, it wont, Its called low impact drilling, look it up. American companys are restricted from drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, well guess who is signing the hundred year leases in the gulf? China and Columbia, well thats really gonna help our economy. Congress is the one who has restricted the building new refineries, yes congress its not that people dont want to build them.
What about alternative energy, wind farms safe nuclear powerplants, well tree huggers dont want them, and guess what politicians listen to these liberal wing nuts for some odd reason. So really what is the answer? Plead to OPEC yeah right, like it or not they dont really need us. We are being replaced a study was just done, the world uses 85 million barrels of oil a day, expected consumption by china is 87 million barrels a day in 10 years, chew on that. The same place that all our american companies have gone.Thats another rant. So now america wants to sue OPEC, oh yeah great idea!
Anyone know a little history? One of the biggest defeats to germany during world war 2 was that we shut down their oil supply, Think about it how many countries in OPEC down right hate us? Yup lets piss OPEC so they can just shut us down, its possible like it of not.
I could go on and on with this, and how us americans are lazy beyond belief the things we should do but wont, but I know I have a novel here. I just needed to vent, and honestly I am scared where we are headed.
