So at work this week...........
I got to see my patient make a full recovery from a stroke she was having. She was 46, complete loss of movement on the right side, right facial droop, slurred speech, etc......classic stroke signs. CT confirms she is not bleeding so more than likely she's got a clot.
We administer a drug called tPA (clot busting drug). In 45 minutes she had recovered completely. Started clearing up 20 minutes into the infusion. The sad / but cool part was; while we were waiting to see if the drug was going to work on her, she and her husband were crying trying to think of how to explain this to their 13 y/o son (not worried about her, focusing on the kiddo, WOW). Apparently, he and mom are real close. Anyways, the drug works. Mom and son will take walks together and play together again. As this is happening (the stroke resolving) I kept hearing that George Strait song "I saw God today". Yeah, I know some of the skeptics out there will say "A man / woman made the drug". True, but God created the man or woman. Anyways, kind of a different story than what I usually report from the ER, so I thought I'd share. Craig |

Craig,
Thanks for sharing that. Kinda offsets another post in the off-topic today that made me pretty upset. Life is good. God is great. And I like this forum!!! |
