Can someone PLEASE give me the name of that VET. I want him to thank him personally and apologise for not being able to stand beside him there.
I'm actually at a loss right now and between wanting to kick the crap out of the SOB's that had the gall to stand on the flag - oh and BTW them boys are DDDDDDAAAAAMMMMM lucky I wasn't there but if they'd like a repeat I'll be happy to show 'em what I would do to their sorry azzez and PROUDLY be hauled off to jail after I ended with 'em. So if anyone can come up with their names as well and I'll offer the challenge - hell I may just make it a mission to destroy their sorry azzes in the virtual world. Sucks when bank accounts move. I can't believe I fought for pisses of sh!t like that. Great post JW. Wait until Craig sees this.

This is very interesting.
Many thanks go out to the Vet... not only for his service, but for his willingness to continue to stand up for what he believes in. Had I only watched the video, I'm not sure what my reaction would have been. After reading the article.. I'm intrigued. I don't know that I would have considered that an "art" project. The project itself intrigues me. I do have issues with allowing the flag to touch the ground.. however, it is interesting, and heartening that (according to the article) 95% of those who walked passed chose to walk around the flags rather than over them. The students who chose to stand on the flag.... well, let's just say that had I been there, they wouldn't have been "standing" for long. They need a lesson in history, and a lesson in respect. However, they are also proof of what makes this country great. The vet, Alan, Stump, and lots of others fought for, and many have died, to give those worthless pieces of sh_t the right to prove just how worthless and disrespectful they can be. |

Are there penalties for violating the Flag Code?
No. The Flag Code [see below] serves as a guide to be followed on a purely voluntary basis to insure proper respect for the flag. The Supreme Court has ruled that politically motivated violations of the Flag Code are protected by the First Amendment. The Flag Code has no provision for enforcement. No fines, no penalties. There is nothing law enforcement can do when the Flag Code is broken. Maybe we should write some laws to protect the flag and start making these people examples for the new laws!!!! |

My friend google could only find this
§ 42.11. DESTRUCTION OF FLAG[0]. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally or knowingly damages, defaces, mutilates, or burns the flag[0] of the United States or the State of Texas. (b) In this section, "flag[0]" means an emblem, banner, or other standard or a copy of an emblem, standard, or banner that is an official or commonly recognized depiction of the flag[0] of the United States or of this state and is capable of being flown from a staff of any character or size. The term does not include a representation of a flag[0] on a written or printed document, a periodical, stationery, a painting or photograph, or an article of clothing or jewelry. (c) It is an exception to the application of this section that the act that would otherwise constitute an offense is done in conformity with statutes of the United States or of this state relating to the proper disposal of damaged flags[0]. (d) An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor. |

I wonder if any new laws written would even hold up after the supreme court has already ruled this kind of crap falls under first amendment rights
Seems to me the Flag is above first amendment rights, but thats just my opinion!
