CB Radio Help

Hey guys, just mounted a CB in the truck. Its a Uniden Bearcat Compact with a K30 magnetic antenna on the roof and I am having some issues.

I am a CB noob.

First off, I dont have an SWR meter and I don't know anyone who does. I was trying to tune my antenna using the digital Reception meter on the unit but no luck (or I did a bad job).

Im curious if there is a way to get my antenna tuned without the meter, or do i need to bite the bullet and just buy the SWR meter?

I was parked next to my buddy and neither of us could get a solid signal. Both sides came in choppy and quiet.

You're either going to have to get an SWR meter or run it by a CB shop and let them set it for you. You and your buddy may have been too close to each other. I think an SWR meter runs around $20

Looks like im just gonna snag one online. Radioshack has em but they are $50.

Would extending my coax 3 feet cause any issues that cannot be resolved by tuning the antenna?
