14 days to Retirement

Well my career in the Marine Corps is coming to an end. On November 30th I will be having my ceremony to retire. It's kinda funny how the last 20 years have gone by so fast. I started off with a seabag full of clothes on my back as a PFC. Now 20 years later I am a Master Sergeant with a wife, 3 kids and 12,000 pounds of crap that the movers get to haul back to Ohio. I have seen and done many things while traveling throughout this big blue marble of ours. I have had the pleasure to serve with some of the most incredibly heroic people I will ever know. Back in 1990-1991 (desert storm) if you had told me that the same bastards that we were shooting at would some day stand beside me shooting at some other bastards I would have told you that you were crazy. But this actually happened. It fills my heart with pride to see the young men and women of today's military. They are our future. I have seen 19 year old men lead combat patrols in Ramadi, Iraq. Tell me another 19 year old that can even fathom that responsibility. Our future is bright in my opinion. I know that I will miss the Corps dearly but it is time for me to pull the quick release on my pack one last time and pop smoke as I cross the street into another life.

Thanks guys. Stroker-x you can count on it.

I only have a few months to find a job before the active duty paycheck gets cut in half to a retirement check.

Yeah I have heard that. Where are you doing the ceremony and what day. I would love to try to swing a trip to San Dawg!

Well I do plan on coming across interstate 40. Where would be the best central location for me to hook up with the Okie members?
