Remember, this is in the middle of the desert.... The very HOT desert where temperatures get up to 120 degrees.....

Why is gasoline $3.00 plus a gallon for regular unleaded??????

Funny...but not 100% true. Dubai is one of the wealthiest places on the globe. I've been there. It's friggin' NICE!!! A lot of companies are moving/expanding to the UAE b/c it is pretty cheap. I got a $5000 rug there for $150!!! Fun, FUN place!!! Only 7-star hotel in the world too...min $3000/night rooms, and those are flippin sweet!

They are actually running out of oil. They expect to be dry by 2012-2015, that is why they are trying to create a market for tourism with the ski slopes and the artificial islands shaped like palm trees. Pretty darn cool though.
