Chip for Dodge diesel

A buddy of mine at work has an 05 cummins and wants a chip or tuner for it what the best one that you have heard of guys having good luck with you know kinda like Sct is to fords he has an automatic transmission thanks for the imput I know this is not a dodge website but you guys are good when it comes to knowing a little about everything.

Have him call Larry at Discount Power Parts. He's a Cummins guy and will talk all day about it if you let him. I think the Smarty is the big thing right now. It's also on-the-fly adjustable to I believe.

The smarty works very good. I just have an edge ez and soon going to get a redline stacked on top of that. But i dont believe they have a number one tuner like the fords do with the sct.

My buddy runs the Edge Juice w/ attitude, and has enjoyed it. We talked in depth about the Smarty, but in reality, is the extra few hp worth the $6k trans rebuild, haha?!

They're weak until you build them up.

A built dodge tranny is one of the best you can get.

In a simple word...yes. The Edge wont lay down the numbers that Smarty will, even with the Hot unlock. Also, the numerous downloads from the site allow you to tailor the Smarty to your truck, for free. Aftermarket injectors? Theres specific files for that. Aftermarket turbo? Specific files for that too. Combo of both? Files for that. Also, there are different torque management files. Smarty comes with Mild. There is also stock (has more than Mild) and Moderate and Wild have less TM, with Wild having the least. Wild will absolutely ruin a tranny that isnt built. Also, there will soon be a file that does away with the speed limiter (no more 108 top speed) and they just got the rev limit up to 4000. ALSO, they tested beta tunes, which will soon be released. And the trannys have gotten a bad rap. They really arent that bad. These 48REs will hold alot more than people realize. The "bad" transmissions were in the first- and second-gen trucks.

And if your buddy is lookin for some bigger power, the Smarty/TST (Powermax CR R49) stack is one of the better stacks out there, but suppkemental upgrades like tranny work, lift pump, and turbo are required...

I agree the third gens have been pretty solid, but the first and the second gens like mine cant handle much power.
