10 minute's
Well I'm building something and I did a little bit of welding today about 10 min. in shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Well I'm looking at my arms and I got a really good sunburn from the welding. It was probably a good thing I used gloves and a welding mask today.

yeah the welding flash gets really bright, and does a good job on burning the skin. good thing you didnt get flash burn on your eyes, that hurts....

I hate when I'm too lazy to put on a helmet and burn my eyelids. It usually only takes a couple of tacks to get burned. Gotta use the PPE, even at home.

I've had some mild flash burn to my eyes. Feels like you've got sand in them!!!
I also learned a few years ago not to weld in short sleeves! Spent the better part of 3 hours burning wire in a short sleeved shirt. Two days later I had one of the few "sunburns" I've ever had in my life!! PPE extends to other equipment too. Had a good friend end up in the hospital with flash burned eyes, and he hadn't welded a thing. Turns out the plasma cutter is actually worse than the welder!!! |
