Tool box shopping

I just got a new job and I am going to have to have all my own tools. So I am looking for a bigger Tool Box right now. Can't afford the Snap On or Matco stuff, yet. I have been looking at the Kobalt line for a decent middle of the road box. Does anyone have any experience with these boxes???

I have a Kobalt box from Lowes. Its not the best box in the world but it does its job.

In my area, if you go to the post office and get a change of address packet, inside is a 20% off coupon for Lowes. I use one for every purchase!

Check out Harbor Freight and look for coupons on there boxes before you purchase. I bought a 56'' for $700. It doesn't have top box from them but if you've got one from a smaller one you could just add it on top. It's not a ''made in the U.S.A. box but it's better made than the ones Sear's sells for anywhere close. I'd also check Craigslist for a used Snap On and ect. You can find some deals with a little cash in hand.

^ Like he said, go check out Harbor Freights "professional" line boxes. I have looked them over at the store and they aren't that bad. They actually have the same drawer slides that my craftsman box has. The only thing I didn't like was the drawer latch was all the way over on the right side of the drawer IIRC. They are a decent entry level box. You pull off the US General emblem and slap on a Snap-On one and I'd bet most average Joe's would never know the difference.

I started with the smallest snap-on box you can probably get and now 9 years later i've got an investment worth probably triple what my truck is.
