Question Easy way to strip paint off metal

Does any of you guys know an easy way to strip paint off of metal? besides sandblasting. Trying to find a easier way to do it instead of spending a long time sanding it all off. I have a tool box and a L shaped fuel tank that im wanting to paint glossy black instead of white.
Is there any problem with painting a fuel tank black?

The only problem i can see with painting it black, is if it sets in the bed of a truck in the sun in the summer it will get extremely hot.
