Ford 2000 Tractor/Hydraulic Question
This should qualify for an Off-Topic Discussion:
I have a 1966 Ford 2000 tractor. I am changing the hydraulic fluid and filters. 1st question - What is a safe solvent to use to wash out the sludge and junk in the housng that won't damage O-rings, seals, etc.? The hydraulic fluid is also the rear axle lubricant. 2nd question: Does anyone out there have a Ford 200 tractor and know how to remove the permanent/reuseable suction filter? The filter is attached to a tube that is on the bottom of the housing under everything else. I can unbolt it from it's support and pull the end of the tube out of it's o-ringed seat, but I can't seem to get the thing out to clean it. I may have to clean it in-place if I can find a safe solvent to use. (See question #1) ![]() Your help wil be greatly appreciated. The so-called tractor forums don't hold a candle to this forum. I'll try to take a pic or two after the sun comes up. Supposed to meet a friend at the Dacusville Farm Days today. (Got to work tomorrow.) I was in hopes of running into somebody that could help me there. I have service/maintenance manual but it doesn't address this problem. It just says to clean the suction filter (one I cant get out) and replace the return filter (already on the bench) every 2400 hours or every two years! This tractor is 41 years old and I am almost sure this is the first time. :-) Not sure how many hours. Do you have a Ford 2000? What year? Gas or deisel? Mine is a gasser. |

Pipelayer: Pics just don't show enough. Small space to try to photograph. I had a chance to talk with Brian Batson who operates a tractor sales and repair place in Pickens today at the Dacusville Farm Days. He acknowledged that it is almost impossible to get the suction line/filter assembly out without bending it to do so. I have decided to just clean 'er in place with mineral spirits as Big Al suggested and take my chances. What ever I do has to be better than it was after 41 years of neglect. Thanks for your willingness to help. I'll post my results.....maybe......... Know any Agnews down your way? Hank |
