Went Wakeboarding!!!

It was so awesome to get out there! I've never been before- and now I don't ever want to stop. Got up after my 4th try and I'm LOVING IT! Sore today- but it's worth it. I want to get a boat now- any of you guys know about these things. I'm looking at a Mastercraft, but the prices are crazy.
Any info and stories are very welcome!

I've been wakeboarding for several years now. I pretty much stay on the water during the summer. As far as boats go, Malibus are my first choice. Any of the big 3(mastercraft, malibu, nautiques) are going to be excellent boats but are not cheap. I just sold my Malibu to buy a house but am hoping to get another one soon. I'm not sure what kind of questions you have but I'd be happy to try and help any that I can.

Well, where to start, how many people are gonna be going out with you?
Do you really need that big ole V8 engine sucking down this $3.00 a gallon gas or would a smaller V6 or even a 4 cyl get the job done? My boat is a 20' with a 4.3 V6 and has seating for 8 and does pretty good with just a V6, runs about 50 with me and 1 passenger, not gonna win any speed races but hey I go out on the wter to have fun and relax, not be in a hurry. Don't get me wrong my V6 still has enough power to haul a boat full and pull a skier. I have a buddy with a 18' boat and 4 cyl and after we go out for several hours my boat has drank a lot more gas then his. Just something to consider.

If you're looking for a boat to go hang out at the lake, pull a tube, ski, etc, then I would probably look at an I/O boat. If you're only going to be wakeboarding and you think that its something you're going to stick with I would definitely recommend a v-drive inboard. Just my .02.

you got that right. Boat prices are crazy!! I remember the 1st time I went wakeboarding. It was a blast. Took a few tries and I was getting the hang of it then I thought I was gonna be cool and jump the wake. I didnt know you had to actually jump when you hit the wake. The toe of the board buried into the wake and I slammed face first into the water. Talk about hurting. I swear a gallon of water was forced into my left eye socket and and it was all bloodshot! Good times though. Didn't stop me from trying.

I'm more of a tube man myself, just hook it up and kick back with a couple of cold ones.

I was out on the boat Friday - it was great. Putted around in a 15' aluminum with an 8hp motor and caught some nICE fish. Granted we barely went 8mph, but it was still fun! Went at least 12 miles and didn't even use a gallon of gas!!!!!
