Proudle serving!!! Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers. Atleast there are a few people who still appreciate what we do. Anymore seems like we don't have the support we need to fight a war like this. Cheers, to all the guys that are still active, lets go get it done!

Thank You!!!

Thanks once again to all who have served, and those still serving. You're efforts are not overlooked! Its also bittersweet, my small community of 3000 just lost its second soldier to the war in Iraq. The funeral will be Tuesday with full honors of course. The last young man to pass was a good friend of mine in the fall of 2003. For his funeral better than half the town attended, which was held in the high school gym. People had to stand outside it was so packed. The funeral for the soldier who just lost his life will be Tuesday afternoon. The schools will once again let out for the day and I believe it will be another great turnout. I never had the privledge of meeting this young man, but my next door neighbor is his grandpa. I only hope (as I believe) the community will support this family in showing as strong of support as we did 3 years ago. God bless you all who serve, stay safe, and thanks for all you do for us back home!!!

Heroism and Bravery
"Why is it so cold?"
An innocent girl asks
She wouldn't understand
It's what the world masks.

She doesn't know why
Why everyone seems to cry
It's something few understand
Why men must be sent to die.

In a desert far away
Heroes stand strong and tall
Though dirtied with life
The men are brave through it all.

Perhaps this is what is needed
A little discipline and war
To make some people realize
Life won't be like before.

Brave men die far away
Protecting us from harm
A young man looks down
He forgot his good luck charm.

In an instant his life is gone
Torn away from the ground
In the distance a man lies fallen
With his hands and feet bound.

In a world far from war
People cannot see
What these men do
Their heroism and bravery.

So when the girl asks
"Why is it so cold?"
It's because of the men
That we can no longer hold.

~By Heidi Hinkle~

I wanted to share this poem with you all. I placed it in this thread I already started because I thought it fit along with the title.

Again thank you to all past, present, and future vets. May you never be forgotten.

Some may have seen this or read this or have heard this before but many may never have seen this ever before. There for I share with you all.

by Rachel B
What freedom means to me
for freedom isn't free
many have paid the ultimate price,
they gave their lives
that we may be free.

May we never forget
this ultimate sacrifice
as we go about our day to day
be it school or work or play
for freedom isn't free.

They were sons and daughter
fathers and mothers
sisters and brothers
volunteererd to stand and fight
that we may be free.

So protest if you must
but remember our soldiers
have earned you that right
they chose to serve
give them the respect that they deserve
for freedom isn't free.

And now today as in the past
our troops prepare to stand and fight
to do what they have sworn to do
while some of you may disagree
which is your right
remember freedom isn't free.

So please support our troops
and don't forget their families
spouses and children
parents too
here at home keeping the faith
hoping their loved one will be home soon.
and while they may not understand all the why's
more than anyone they know
the price of freedom is sacrifice
for freedom isn't free.

God Bless our Troops
may they return safely to their
families and friends
and for those who don't
may their families undestand
the one they love didn't die in vain
They gave their life for love of freedom
for freedom isn't free.
