Identity Theft! Anyone?

I just got off the phone with chase helping out my fiance'. She looked up her account and found a handful of withdraws from her account in Brooklyn NY at Target. We are in CA! I have always heard of this stuff but never seen it first hand. Just curious about how many others have delt with this?

My mom had a 300 dollar phone bill racked up w phone calls to africa? Some how it was a scam hacked out of her dial up internet account.

My buddie had some one in Europe buyin stuff with his debit card.

So far Ive been lucky and nothing like this has happened to me but I shred every piece of mail I get and keep online purchases with my card to a minimum.

We had someone steal our credit card info and order Vonage phone service.

I've never had my credit cards cracked, but my bank card (M.C. check or debit card) has been hacked twice in the last 3 years. Funny thing is after the first time I have never used my check card online. I ALWAYS use my credit card and it still got swiped a few months ago. Someone from LA tried to buy cologne, I-tunes, and a bunch of other small crap with it. Luckily my bank shut it down before any damage was done.

Yeppers I sure have! $800 through PayPal! I got it back but what a PITA!!! Never again will I even think of going to that site!
