Martial Arts????
Anybody here take Martial Arts? I studied and trained in Kung Fu (actually Wing Chun), as well as Tai Chi Chuan, for about 6 years, and Choy Li Fut style for about a year. I also undertook weapons training for the last year of my instruction, thats some hard stuff right there!....just was curious if anybody else trains or did and what did fighting style did you study?
I know that often times discussions of different fighting styles can turn into pissing matches, so I'd like to try and avoid that if at all possible |

Man, I wish i could get instruction for free, i'd be all over that! I learned the hard way about age ,my sifu was 58 when he started teaching me, but even when I thought I was pretty darn good, about 3 years into it, he was 61 and still put me in my place, he was a no nonsense traditional chinese instructor, used to walk around class with peice of bamboo, if you were doing something wrong or talking or laughing during instruction he'd whack the **** right out of ya.....

I was involved with martial arts about 18 years ago. got started in college. studied at the Cleveland Karate acadamy. Fighting style was a mixture of Karate (tae kwan do) Judo and kobuto. To advance a belt you had to fight in a sanctioned competion and gain at least one point from your opponent. anyway that got me involved in competeion and I competed on a national level for 3 years. I also had a chance to go to Pa. and go to an Olympics training camp. I was not good enough for the Olympics
![]() I wish I had time o get back into it. |
