Gps
I have spent some time looking around on the internet at the available GPS units out there for automotive use, and I have found on in particular that I like, not having seen it in person, I just was curious if anyone had used one of these or had a recommendation for me! Thanks ya'll!!
Lowrance iWay 350c found here: http://www.lowrance.com/iway/iWAY350C.htm Any help here would be great, I have found this unit for as low as 375 bucks new on eBay. |

I have a garmin 2610 that I put in my niece's car. It works real well. It uses CF cards to store the maps. A 2GB cards will store the entire U.S. In the truck I installed a Garmin 2720. It has an internal memory that has the whole U.S. and 750mb for routes. With the 2720 you can also have realtime traffic updates using a FM signal. ou need to pay for that though. I like the Garmin units as they will automaticall recalculate if you make a wrong turn. Keith

Built-in, precision 16-channel GPS+WAAS receiver
looks nice, it has a Built-in, precision 16-channel GPS+WAAS receiver what ever you get make sure it has WAAS (wide area augmentation system) wass narrows your location down to feet (at least in the aviation units) i use a lowrance airmap 2000 http://www.lowrance.com/aviation/Products/AM2000C.asp for flying and love it. nice to know right where you are at, espically with all the new restricted airspace. works good on the road too. i love punching in my destination and getting a running ETA. lowrance makes a nice product anyway you look at it. you will probally have to buy updates for it from time to time. I have a Magellan Meridian Gold that I use both in the truck & in the boat. I think the most important consideration is the available software for the unit. Garmin had software out long before the others and I regretted buying the Meridian. Finally, they have caught up, but it was frustrating.
Here's a couple of good GPS websites: http://gpsinformation.net/ http://www.gpscity.com/ |
