Well, finally got my computer put back together. Sometime yesterday some a-holes broke into my home while my wife and I were at work and made off with all her jewelry, a .38 special revolver, x-box, 46" LCD TV and some other odds and ends. Pieces of chit were dumb enough to leave f-ing finger prints and if I find out who they were, they are dead muther truckers. I can't believe this crap. Now I dont feel safe in my own home. My black lab was in the back yard, but will now be left in the house during the day, but what else can I do to make sure I don't get broken into again. We arent home during the day or the 12 ga. would be an answer.

Yeah man that sucks I need to get an alarm myself. I work 3rd and live out in the country and have to leave my wife and kids every night There is a 12ga by the bed and my wife knows how to use it. But if someone breaks in My family would probally not have time to react anyway before something bad happened. I Knock on wood have never been broken into but my neighbors have just down the road.

I feel for you 100% man. We got broken into last year on memorial weekend while we were on vacation. We got an alarm system put in as well as most of me neighbors too. The cops never found out who it was. They hit 10-12 houses in a 3 month period within a 1 mile radius of my house. The cops up here are kinda worthless, no offense to any law enforcement guys on here. They took both computers, my 22 pistol (they unloaded it before they took it), my flat screen tv (left the old tube tv's), all my power tools, socket sets, dvds, and all my misc money and change laying around. I bought more guns and the wife and i both got our conceal carry permits. It won't stop another burglary, but its piece of mind while out of the house. Sorry for the losses. We also didn't feel safe in our house for a while. Just remember, you have to keep your head held high and move on. If you let it get the best of you or you abandon your house, then the thieves one. If you have any more questions feel free to pm me man.

Thieves want something easy, they don't like alarms.

you can rig a $hit load of guns above the door with a string tied to the doorknob so when they open it they all go off........you might need a new floor afterwards but i guess its cheaper than all the stuff you lost
make sure you put a sign saying use the BACKDOOR the robbers are probably to dumb to realize what it means haha |

thanks guys. i am in the works now of getting an alarm system. Wes, I would like to know more about your camera stuff. I have one neighbor whom has cameras and he was far enough away that nothing showed up on his. I am going to get double dead bolts on the front door as well as the ones that require a key on both sides on the back doors.
