Wireless or hard wired? Have you installed anything lately or any patches? Back in the OLD day's when I was a PC tech you used to see keyboard controllers on motherboards blow every so often - especially when users would unplug the keyboard or mouse while the machine was on. I think PonyBoy and I have replaced a thousand motherboards for just that problem.
NOW day's you don't see that problem hardly at all. Usually it's a piece of software, a patch, or the addition of a device that's caused an IRQ conflict. If you haven't installed anything I'd check it out in device manager and see if there are any conflicts. If there aren't any I'd remove them from device manager. Shut it down, install your other keyboard and mouse and fire her back up. It'll hopefully unscrew itself.
OR if you've got XP just do a system restore from a couple days ago.

No big deal. Just put the old stuff back and reboot. It should be fine. Somethign had a conflict or possibly didn't boot correctly. We see this all the time with Dell PC's that we work on.
