Which Dirt BIke?

I'm thinking of purchasing a dual sport bike, I'm considering the Kawasaki KLR 650, the Honda XR650L, or the Suzuki DRZ400. I love Suzuki's and have always had good luck with them but I really want a bigger engine than the 400. I'm 6'2" and 300#, I need a big bike. I have owned atv's all my life but never a two wheeler. Give me your opinoins please.

What are you going to do with it , trail ride, commute?

The reason I ask is that those bikes are to heavy for trail riding but great for commuting.

I'll be doing everything on it, not so many trails but maybe backroads and dirt roads, service roads in the national forrests and such.

my dad raced dirt bikes when he was young, and I have had them since i was able to ride a 50. We have owned yamaha, honda and kawasaki. Personally we are yamaha guys and have always been impressed. BUT, we have always owned motocross bikes not dual sport.

Like Big tone said.....Off-Road or On-Road...?

From what you have listed I would say the Honda.

Yamaha's or KTM's are not an option?.....just curious.

Then of those three the Kawasaki KLR 650, the Honda isnt water cooled, and the DRZ is a bit underpowered.

go with the 650, i ride with a guy your size and he rides the larger bikes just to make it fun. his honda is a very capable machine on & off road, also everyone makes alot of go-fast goodies for them.

No dual sport.....I just like yamaha

and yeah, ktm's are pricey, but pretty sweet!

I think you should just choose if you like the kawasaki or honda better.

I say ride them all, then decide. Buy what you want so you dont regret it. If it were me, Id get the Honda, even though Im a Yamaha guy myself. Suzukis are nice, but the 400 may be under powered. Ive never really cared for Kawasaki, but if thats your cup of tea, then go for it. Get either of the 650s and you should be ok. Enjoy the new ride!
