New to me boat!

O.k., last Friday I made a little trip from my home here in Tuscaloosa Alabama to Covington Georgia. Picked up a 1988 Chaparral 200 XLC bowrider boat. Now let me say this boat is nice, all new interior, teak wood trim on back, teak wood swim deck, teak wood door for ski compartment, 5.7 Mercruiser, snap on bow cover, snap on **** pit cover, entire boat cover, thru hull exhaust (sounds great) good trailer with new bunks and carpet, good tires, all lights work, couldn't ask for more. Well the guy tells me before I go that the b oat is not running and needs the distributor put back in right and plug wires put back on and the new carburator hooked up but other than that it runs great. Well the loan value on the boat is almost $6,000 with all the options, he's asking $3k and I actually bougth it for $2,900. Get it back home, get it running, take it to the lake Monday and BUMMER! Boat will barely get up on plane, has water spewing out threw the dipstick tube, blow by coming out the oil breathers is so bad it's crazy. Oh well, everything else works great, outdrive and all, I just hate a liar. The guy could've told me, hey the motor's wore out and needs to be built and I would've still bought the boat. I told my wife on the way home with the boat that even if the motor neede built that it's still a good deal. Oh well a 350 Chevy has got to be the cheapest motor ever to build.

lmao -- too much trouble huh?

that sucks that he didn't tell you about the engine -- but at least it won't be too hard and you'll still have a brand new engine and great condition boat for less than loan value!!! Sounds sweeet!

we have a 1992 Chaparral 1900 SLC bowrider and love it!
