How do I tell if its a 6.9 or 7.3?

What a great site,,,I am new here and new to diesel trucks,,I just got an 86 F-350 with a 6.9 and an 84 intl. S-1600,,,,that might have a intl. 7.3,,,,I was looking at them side by side and could not see alot of differances,,,the Intl. does not run (yet, it will!!been sitting) apparently it never started well,,,befor I start getting parts for the binder I need to know what the mill is,,,any help greatly appricated,,Thanks, Parker

I dont know the ???,,,is there a tag some where? an indentfiying trait? I can tell a 304 from a 345 from a 392,,,,gotta be the same deal,,,Thanks,Parker

All right,,since no one here knows how to tell them apart I went and bought the book on these moters,,,there is a tag on the oil filler body that tells you if its a 6.9 or 7.3.............the F-350 I have is a 6.9 the intl. 1600 is a international 7.3,,,,,now we are getting somewhere,,,,,,gonna try to get the international home-on the road this week,,,
