Hey Im want to to a transplant of a 7.3 in a car..Why cause I can....Do the early 7.3 make good power...What kind of hp and tourqe can you get out of them? What are the best years to build off of...Id really like to get a PSD but I dont think the funds will let me do that....Im new at this .... What ya think....Thanks Matt

welcome to the org! what you are talking about can be done, but there will be many challenges to overcome. one being the front suspension to hold it up; among other things. the torque will also tax the frame even at stock power levels.

The car im going into is a 66 ford galaxie....That thing is very well built in the front...Im sure the springs will have to be changed...The wheel bearings will be the biggest problem I see, I have some skills I can overcome....See me MATT

i dont think the IDI is what you would want to put in a 'cruisin' car..but hey sure it wud pull a dodge lol

The stock 7.3 idi has 180 hp and 385 torque from what i read you can make decent power with them but it takes alot of cash. turbo, headstuds to hold decent amounts of boost, you can have a shop drill your injectors and rebuild the pump to push more fuel.

I'd go Cummins for this project. Either the 5.9 or the litt 4 banger would work alot easier than a PSD would IMO.

Well the car is pretty heavy.....At first I was going to go with a dodge hemi out of a 04 magnum...I almost pulled the trigger on it till I got my truck and wanted to stay Ford....I did look into a 12valve dodge but I think the thing would be toooooooooo long for the car...Ill have to do some more checking...I have a friend with a 12valve in his truck and damn that thig will haul....I have a friend in the auto salvage business , He is keeping his eye out for a smashed PSD for me....The computers and the wiring I want to get from the donor truck....I guess we will see ...Thanks Matt
