My dad has a 91 7.3 with an ATS turbo system. he is trying to replace the throwout bearing but to do so he has to remove the Down pipe from the turbo.... but he cant figure out how to get the pipe free... is it clamped, or pressed in some how? or does it just sit in there? someone PLEASE HELP ASAP!

he said that there is no clamp on the fitting... he thinks that its pressed into place. but I can see how that would be possiable.

Sorry I didnt see this earlier. Yup, it just slides in there, its kinda a PITA to be honest with you, but it works. To make sure he gets it in there good when he slides it back in, start the truck up and rev it up, see if you can see any exhaust come out around the downpipe area with the hood open. I just did the throwout bearing in my truck (truck went Kaboom one night and wouldnt go anywhere
