Perkins 4.135 thoughts
I've got a Perkins (mazda) 4.135 2.2l in an 83 ranger.
Picked up the truck down south, killer little truck.
Anyways, guy I bought it from did the water pump and put on a new head...
And aparently didnt know what he was doing. I blew the gasket after 8k. I'm missing a nut here and a bolt there and so on...
So I'm pulling it back apart and doing it right. So question is has anyone worked on these? Anyone have any suggestions of things to check while I'm in there. The engine has excellent compression/power so I dont anticipate finding anything.
I think part of the reason the head blew is because he left out the rear two lower nuts on the exhaust manifold (not lost). I think it heated up too much and poof.
Thanks for the time guys.
