Wow, all of this sounds strange to me, buying a teenager a vehicle instead of making them earn it for themselves and considering buying them a new vehicle that costs as much to buy and operate as a Powerstroke then talking about modding it for them to have more power. Maybe I’m just from the old school (I’m 33 and over the hill) but I can’t imagine this. It took me 10 years of hard work to get to the point in my life where I could afford mine. I started working and saving at 10 years old for my first vehicle. Makes me wonder how these new age kids that get handed stuff will turn out in the long run. It does seem to be different times, my 16 year old has $0 saved up and seems to have no ambition and all his friends seem to be the same way. It bothers me to let him drive the 69 without earning it but I’m getting tired of being his personal chauffeur and he needs a job.

Sorry for the long off topic rant.

OBS 7.3 imo. reliable, much cheaper than a new one, you can mod them as time and budget allows, and no 6oh problems. no major repairs on mine for 186k. proof is in the pudding. and I completely agree with alabamafrog. i had to earn mine, through working AND good grades in school. Oh, and BTW, if you want real reliability, get an IDI. i had a 93 f250, and that thing NEVER broke. Never, not once. sold in 98, and is still running strong today. biggest repair was a lift pump. (and a torque converter, which was due to A ford service tech putting the the wrong fluid in.)

and reg. maint. loved that truck. that was the truck i earned working and with good grades.

Where did you hear that? Maybe 50 more at the most.

Man, i would never buy my kid (if i had one) that new of a vehicle. I wouldn't buy them anything for their first vehicle. I may help them, but if you just straight up buy it for them they don't respect it. Im not tryin to insult you or anything, im just givin my unasked for opinion.

im 17 and daddy helped with the payments one the one you see here which i shopped for months and found an awesome price. all the extra stuff comes from my hard earned money durning the summer and love my truck.
if daddy went nutz and bought me a 6.4 id s**** myself
7.3 has lasted me and mudding it was my choice but if i could go back i would have looked alot harder at the cummins just for hp
