honestly wait until you have the front axle. then put both under it. it would be cheaper to do it that way than to swap it over, just to rip it out and weld new stuff in. i did the sas under my bronco. a great place to look is fullsizebronco.com that will have everything you need to know about the 8 lug swap

Hey Peppy I am doing the same thing but mine is a 1992 Bronco. I have been wondering the same question because I want to keep the 44 until I can afford to do the Dana 60 swap.

I was actually ready to do the rear a few months ago & I took it apart to do a brake job & when I went back to get install the new rotors someone STOLE it! So now I have to wait until I can afford to purchase another set of axles. I think its going to be a while because to do the front end is very expensive & I don't do fab work myself so I have to pay someone.

Check out eBay, there is a kit available. This is the item # 110241355145, just put the item number in the search & it should come up.

Good Luck,
Anthony

The easiest way to do this is to have the hub and rredrilled to 8 lugs, without seeing your hub I suspect that you have an oddball hub, do you have a locking hub withbolts around the ou8tside? or a regular 1/2,3/4 ton type that splines inside for the locking hub?
If you have the more normal 1/2ton truck hub setup you can redrill a bronco rotor to match a 3/4 ton straight axle gm hub, but check the dimensions, bearing and race#s for compatability, if it works check for dragat the caliper, as new pads combined with a difference in rotor offset can cause it to drag, used pads can correct this problem as a stopgap. I have done this swap in reverse(Ford hubs onto a gm 8lug d44 to get a 5lug pattern on a jeep).

the D50 TTB wont work
alot of us bronco people use chevy outers from a late 70's model GM 10 bolt straight axel.

I have been looking into doing the swap on my bronco a lot lately and have been looking at this and a lot of other threads over @ fullsizebronco.com

Dana 44 TTB 8-lug swap

Take it apart and look at the wheel bearings, if the #'s are the same they will fit the spindle. Then you want to look at the caliper mount, you may have to change to 3/4 ton mount. All should bolt on, I did this on a dana 44 out of a 78 1/2 ton to a 8 bolt 3/4 ton worked just fine. The only problem I had was breaking axles every other time I went 4 wheeling.
