My first diesel comments replies please

Hello All,

I purchased my first diesel last week, 1990 F250 7.3L auto, A/C that works, new brakes, new tires 10 plys, smooth auto trans w O/D, new glow plugs & controller. I bought it for 1800 bucs, did I get the hose or was that a fair good or poor deal?

The cab & frame have very little if any rust. The truck came from New Mexico but has been here in the mid west since 2005. The truck has the heavy springs & a utility box that I'm looking to swap for a regular 8 foot box, see attached pics. Would like to restore it back to original condition if I can find the parts & they don't end up costing me an arm & leg, we'll see???

It was real cold here this weekend & I had trouble getting her started Friday, since I've been keeping it plugged in & it has fired right up with no trouble.

I'm not planning to use the truck for anything other then pulling a 24' enclosed toy hauler for vacations & maybe a few miscellaneous weekend trips...

Couple of things I would like to add & ask for your help with...
1) Cruise control...how hard will this be to add?
2) Need to acquire a good manual for the truck...any suggestions?

The truck currently shows 7K on the speedo, I'm thinking that is 307K but not sure & the previous owner was not sure either very certain it has been around the clock at least twice. Should I be worried about finding out the actual milage?

Anything I need to watch out for or change proactively?

You got a plenty good deal I think! These are great old trucks and they will last forever if they are well serviced! Look on E-Bay for a manual, check local junk yards and the truck traders for a bed, should,nt cost too much and you should be able to sell your utility bed for some pretty good $'s! I would for sure put an aux. tranny cooler on it to pull if you want some life out of it, I saw one in Aut Zone for like $30, just remember it will need more fluid after it is installed! I don't know anything about Cruise Controls so I will bump that one to somebody else! Enjoy your truck and just keep plugging it in!

I paid twice that amount for my 93 F350
