Need trans help! E4od

Recently i bought a 1990 f250 7.3 with the E4od trans. it shifts hard into 2nd and 3rd and jumps in and out of high and overdrive, then when i got home today i smelled burning fluid and look down and my trans is pouring out fluid towards the front of the trans. any ideas? maybe a seal or a bad pump? please give me some input!

I would say probably bad pump (but Im nothing close to an auto trans expert) and despise the e4od w/a bright hot burning hate.
When was the last time the po changed fluid? are you running a bypass filter?
Was the OD light blinking?

A bad pump would cause it not to shift at all.. More then likely you blew a front or rear seal. Sometimes those seals get hard then allow the fluid to bypass causing you to loose fluid pressure making your clutch packs engage then disengage.
