1993 Turbo IDI Upgrades?

Well after weeks of trying to find a Powerstroke, i finally gave up and decided to look into IDI trucks. Welp i found a 93 turbo IDI ZF5 truck, it has a new Injection pump, turbo, glow plugs, gp relay, and clutch. Its good shape and isn't filled with rust.

Anyways I was wanting to know what i can do to pep it up. I know IDI trucks aren't power houses and i can live with that. Can any of you veteran IDI guys tell me what i can do to get some more power. I have a banks 3 inch downpipe and exhaust coming next week. Throw me some suggestions guys. I am totally new to the IDI world.

Also i will have some guages for it in a few weeks. And can i make this fit my truck http://www.dieselsite.com/1994-19977...ionsystem.aspx i know it is for the Powerstroke motor but could it be made work?

Head studs, and intercooler will allow you to run more boost. Do you have a wastegate? It is fairly simple to turn the pumps up. Look on oilburners.net. Their are alot more IDI guys on there.

Edit: You can definatly make that coolant filter work, but don't expect it to have everything you need to complete the kit, but will definatly work

Yeah it has a wastegate.
Whats the most boost you can run on a stock idi turbo truck?

You should be able to tighten up the wastegate so that it allows the turbo to build more boost. Other then that, more fuel is gonna give you more boost.

Your best bet is to get an EGT and boost gauge and go from there on how much you turn up the pump. If you EGTs are still ok then you can turn the pump up more, untill you reach about 1200 degrees or so then its not worth it to go much more.

The down pipe itself won't really do anything to make it any louder. For that you'll have to modify/delete your muffler.
