1989 F700 IDI 7.3
Currently I'm looking at a 26' U haul Ford F700 with an International 7.3L N/A motor in it, backed by a 5 spd spicer. I'm going to load my Jeep in the back of it and haul it around.
Can anyone give me some tips and tricks as to what I need to be looking at to make sure it's a healthy 7.3? It's got 230K miles on it and runs and drives I'm told. I know I'll not win any races with it, but if I can do 60 MPH on the flat ground with it I'd be happy, 4.33 gears in the rear end. I am complete diesel newb, I know the basic parts and what they do, but other than that assume I know nothing. I am very handy with a wrench, just totally new to diesels. I am not interested in turning up the pump, turboing it, nothing save making it run as it was intended and keeping it reliable. |

What kinda price are ya looking at getting it for??
I dont see why it wouldnt.... it just might take a while to get to 60-70! ![]() Those idi's are pretty bulletproof... I'd just say to keep the oil changed/ filters changed and you'll be good to go! |

My guess is it will have a top speed in the 63-68mph range. That 5 speed is more than likely direct in 5th, and more than likely it has a IP that is governed at 2800 rpm's. You will probably be at the govenor somewhere in that range.
