the idi is a great motor, definitely not fast by far, but it'll work hard! make sure you have coolant with the correct additives as the cylinder walls are thin and you dont want them to wear through...probably better on the mpg with the turbo, im assuming its factory turbo'd.. how many miles and how much did you pay?

Not a lot can be done for power.
You can upgrade the downpipe, to open up the crushed stock one. Turn up the pump, do an exahust, and an intake. You can also get a Moose pump, delievers more fuel than the stock pump = more power. |

Turn the pump up ??? or get a Moose pump where can I get them at I'm new to the diesels but I am a tech have been for 21 years on BMW's by pump do you mean the fuel distributor or is there a pressure regulator Pete

The injection pump. It sits at the front of the motor in the valley. Has the eight injection lines running to it. Someone more knowledgeable than me will be able to tell you exactly what to do to turn it up. Also the IDI's are great engines, get decent mpg, just not powerhouses. I've owned both a '90 IDI and a '94 IDI Factory Turbo. Great trucks, both well over 200,000 and still going strong.

Thanks I hope I love this truck like I did my last 3 with the 7.5 gas motors that had 185xxx 233xxx and 168xxx and my 08 v10 has 38560 as of today. I plan on keeping this one till I'm dead or it rots to the point that its not safe to drive anymore
