Sooo I need help!

I only have like 10 hours worth of experience on a DT466. And I didn't expect that to be my first job after opening the shop Anyway, I have pretty much figured out the issue I think.

Its a 1984 DT466 dump truck. What gets me is there is a HUGE water/fuel seperator on the passenger side frame rail under the hood right below the air filter. There is a lift pump right above it. When I spoke to Dave he wasn't sure that was an actual part that came from the factory. But everything seems to be hooked up right. Anyway, here was my issue. The truck wouldn't start except on ether. I foundn out that one of the fuel tanks was shut off so I opened it and finally got some fuel into the system, I got it started but had to keep my foot on the throttle to keep it running. It eventually stalled out on me. After that all I can get it to do is start and run at idle for approx 2-3 seconds and it will stall out again. The fuel filter is brand new and was in pretty good shape.

It was suggested to me that there is a leak somehwere and I'm getting air into the fuel system. What I need to know is where are some common spots for air to get in? I don't wanna replace everysingle hose this thing has just to find out it was a 98 cent o-ring or something. Hopefully you get what I'm saying. Just let me know what you guys think. Thanks!
