gas to diesel swap

Ive got a 1988 Ford F350 crew cab dually with a EFI 460. I want to swap it to a diesel. The truck body is in pristine shape or i wouldnt mess with it. Ive owned some diesels and dont want to go back to a gas, and I got the truck for a great price. I would like to know if anyone out there has done the swap before and what all needs changed as far as in dash wiring and under hood can anything be used from the gas wiring? Also I am in the process of looking for a donor truck and would like to know what years can I get to match up? Could I go older with an IDI or newer and change the electronics, would it be easier to change the dash out from a donor truck any and all help appreciated. Thanks

An IDI swap would be easier than Powerstroke for sure. Tranny should bolt up. The IDI is pretty much self contained, whereas powerstroke requires a lot of new chassis electrical. If you can get an IDI, make sure and get the wiring harness. IDK what else you can use of the 460 though.

Ive got no problem going to an IDI. My question now is would i have to swap dash's for the diesel dash and the wiring behind it also?or can i tie it into what ive already got from the 460?
