96 Passat
Wasnt sure where to post this so feel free to move. My buddy has a 96 passat TDI and we are wanting to build it up some. Anybody have any experience with this? I know they make tuners and injectors for these motors (1.9L). The biggest weak point I think will be the mechanical fuel pump. Any clue where to find this stuff? Any advice at all would be helpul. Tranny wont be a problem- its a 5 speed. Thanks

Here is a bump for ya. I am not familiar with the VW's, but someone else might be. Also about your trans, just because its a 5spd doesn't mean that the clutch can handle the extra power. Just something to think about. Sounds like a fun project.

I love my TDI it does exactly what it was intended to do. Its not overly fast or anything but it gets 42mpg's. ![]() I drive 100+ miles a day, so it saves me a bunch of money

I picked up my 04 Jetta back in June with 40K on the clock, I paid 11K for it. FYI: They are very particular on what oil you use in them, especially on the PD engines. If the wrong oil is used it will cause premature cam failure. If you find one to buy it wouldnt be a bad idea to have an oil analysis done. |
