Looking at an 84 IDI

There's an 84 F250 with an IDI locally for sale cheap.

Truck looks clean from the pictures, guy said his Grandpa bought it new in 84 and been in the family since, ODO says 91xxx miles, not sure if it's rolled over but the guy says it's only got 91xxx miles.

He said the truck is overheating on him. I'm no mechanic, and don't want to pick up a truck that is going to cost more to repair than I paid for it.

My question is aside from a blown head gasket, what are some common over heating issues w/ these trucks?

I appreciate any help fellas.

Dumb question, does it have coolant in it? Is the thermostat froze closed? Other then that i wouldnt know without checking it...could be a water pump thats locked up internally. Hope you get some other things to check.

Thanks for the input. The guys suggested maybe it was the thermostat, but didn't know.

Doesn't sound like he wants to bother with it, and just wants to sell it.

If I had more money than brains, I would just pick it up and start w/ the simple stuff, but I don't have that option.
