FOUND SOMETHING ELSE ON THE TANK THAT WORKS!!!

When I got my IDI, the owner said he never used the rear tank(). I was thinking he was either too broke to fill it............or there was something wrong with it. I PM'd NCHornet for some advice & he said put only about 4-5gal. in it & see, #1, if it registers on the fuel gauge. The senders & crossovers on these trucks are notorious for failure. Tonight, I put exactly 5gal of fuel in it. Right before I flipped the switch @ the gas station, I thought "Chit! If this doesn't work, I'm gonna run outta fuel & I don't have my wrench to crack an injector". So I brought it home & did it in my driveway. To my amazement, it actually works!!! It's reading a hair under 1/4 tank, & it didn't die! I'm so friggin' happy! I don't have to drop my fuel tank!!!.............unless go to fill it all the way & find out it leaks somewhere. I guess it's time for some research & development, huh?

Crawl under the truck with a flashlight and look for holes first before you fill it

Thanks, Dave, I'm definitely going to have a look @ it tomorrow. I want to make sure the filler neck's OK too. I hope this thing doesn't have any holes, I know I'd have to replace/repair it, but it's sucking money out of the "Tank's Hypermax 3.5" exhaust fund"!!!

They are fun trucks. As a matter of fact, I haven't driven Heavy for about a week & a 1/2 now. I changed Heavy's oil last night when I got home from work & just let her run for a while & that was it. After that, I took the Tank for a long ride & hit Staples Rd. in Cumberland & had a blast! Staples is more of a trail than an actual road!

There's a 87 ext cab long bed on CL down here for 1000 and I'm trying to get the guy to trade my 91 ranger for it.

Good luck, man! I hope you get it! IDIs are really where it's @. I think my IDI would take a better beating than my PSD. WAIT! It already has!!!
