When I got my IDI, the owner said he never used the rear tank(
). I was thinking he was either too broke to fill it............or there was something wrong with it. I PM'd NCHornet for some advice & he said put only about 4-5gal. in it & see, #1, if it registers on the fuel gauge. The senders & crossovers on these trucks are notorious for failure. Tonight, I put exactly 5gal of fuel in it. Right before I flipped the switch @ the gas station, I thought "Chit! If this doesn't work, I'm gonna run outta fuel & I don't have my wrench to crack an injector"
. So I brought it home & did it in my driveway. To my amazement, it actually works!!! It's reading a hair under 1/4 tank, & it didn't die! I'm so friggin' happy! I don't have to drop my fuel tank!!!.............unless go to fill it all the way & find out it leaks somewhere
. I guess it's time for some research & development, huh?
