I didn’t like the pink thing in the beginning but if it means my wife will take an interest in the old tractors and go to the shows with me and enjoy it then I’m all for it. It also gives me a good excuse to fix up the worst of the old tractors. One of my main jobs is PLC programming and trouble shooting, I love PLC’s, it’s just kinda aggravating when they keep getting different kinds. So far we got about 10 different style PLC’s I have to know and they don’t want to send me to any classes, my boss keeps saying they all work the same and I’ll figure it out. I know the GE UC2000 innovation series inside out and can get around Allen Bradley PLC5, SLC 500 pretty well. Those Seimens, Control Logix, GE Rxi, Twincat, and all the other new ones aggravate me. |

If you can get her into it, the battle is mostly won. Or at least that is the way I have it figured. I took mine goose hunting and created an animal. She has been real good about me buying parts for the truck lately too. Only problem was that I forgot to turn the chip down on the truck the other day when we went to get my dads truck for him. She took off from a stop sign rolling coal and leaving some rubber on the pavement. All I could think of was, better turn it down next time!!!

Besides the one day shift engineer we electricians are the only ones that are competent to work on PLC's. |

Oh, we don't got none of them, we just got us plain old electricians, ie electrical maintenance men to handle everything from PLC's, instrumentation, controls, to burnt up wires, bad prox switches, melted switch gear, or telling the operators which button to push. We even have to change pumps, motors, etc and weld, fabricate, machine stuff, etc sometimes too. We used to be completely multicraft so no matter what it was a maintenance man fixed it, now we are split between mechanical and electrical but still handle everything ourselves. I bet in the nuclear business yall have lots of divisions in your fix-it-man force. Lots of our electricians are Navy Nuclear guys from subs but I’m just a redneck farmer who started as a mechanic/hydraulics fix-it guy and one day they told me I was an electrician now.
