Oh yeah!
My uncle has a german that is about 5 yrs old now, but showed intelligents very soon.
At 1 or 2 yrs old, he knew and understood the names of his toys and would fetch them at request from a bag in the corner of the house. Then, he would also put them all back when told to do so.

If you whisper to him, he focuses so close he tilts his head and locks on what your saying and then will fo exactly what you want him to do.

He is also strong! His idea of a stick is a 3' long 6" diameter log! Lol

here's the newest addition to my family, she's a year old Black and Tan Coonhound. She's really uncharacteristcally quiet for a hound, very sweet, very smart. her name is Jellybean It was my stepdad's idea...

really crappy iPhone photos, sorry
