DMV relocation sales tax...

I'm sure I'm not the only one that has moved here from the military only to find out you have to pay 8% tax on the truck you already paid tax on when you bought it. My question is, of you that have experienced this, are any of you returning from North Carolina? Also, if you filed for the tax refund, how did you do it? I'm reading this DMV crap and I'm not seeing how to apply to North Carolina for a refund. I just see this crap if North carolina doesn't approve a refund, then I can send in this AU-11 form for New York to do something about it.

Any help would be great, because with this tax for moving up here...I've paid nearly 5000 in taxes on this truck and I only bought it once... I would like some of it back

You should only have to pay the difference. Ex, if you paid 6% you have to pay 3 3/4%.
