Stacks, inspection and the law?

I see trucks in my area all the time with stacks. I'd like to run a turbo back system which eliminates the cat. Am I asking for trouble?

I have stacks on my truck and they don't draw attention. Unless you think you need to black out everyone in a smoke cloud you should be good to go.

As long as you're registered over 8500 lbs, it's self-inspection in NJ anyway. I don't think i've ever seen a diesel MVC roadside checkpoint around me, but if you had to stop at one there would be problems. I haven't had a cat or muffler in years, never been an issue.

I want to put a turbo-back exhaust in my truck and I have Jersey plates but I keep my truck in NY so it is legal and all good to go for me to do that? I believe the kit come with a muffler but i'm not so sure about a cat.
