Be careful with plow trucks!!

Check it over carefully. Look for wear and tear on the front end, salt damage/rust, check trans fluid.

Look at the body mounts. I bought an old plow truck where the radiator supports and rear cab mounts busted through the frame from being hammered on.

If it was used to do just a parking lot or 2 great. Main plow truck for a contractor not so good.

Show up with 6 grand, put 5 grand on the hood in front of his gf/wife and see if you grab it back before she does.

He used the truck to plow his own drive way and his neighbors ill show up with 6 and try that trick but if that doesn't work should I just give him the 6 grand?

It depends. If he needs major work done like ball joints and brakes because of the plow being on it, you can work the price down. Wear and tear plays a good part of pricing a truck.
How long ago was the trans rebuilt?
Did he plow since then? What about the transfer case?
Did he change gear oil in the axles?
Last time the rear brakes were changed?
Is it solid front axle or TTB? Wear on the twin traction beam?
Does everything work?

Kelly Blue Book is 6500. Edmunds is 4700.
