Question Netflix

Hey guy's. Anyone use Netflix. Been searching around trying to find out how much data is used when streaming movies and tv shows. Can't seem to find it anywhere. Not even on any of the Netflix forums. $7.95 a month isn't a bad deal as long as you don't have to pay $120 a month for a mega internet data package.

I have netflix and I love it, you can pay an extra 8 bucks a month and get a DVD through the mail. I also used netflix on DSL for a while and it would bog down, it probably eats the band width a good bit but I have twc with turbo and I can browse online a stream a movie at the same time with no problem. So it will play on DSL but if you have low bandwidth then it will probably freeze.

a HD movie from netflix or blockbuster(if you have the available service) or even hulu, voodoo. you are looking at right around 2 gigs. maybe even up to 3 for your longer movies. a SD movie you're looking at around 1.5 gigs or so. I work for a company that installs internet service and they have a data cap and that is one question i ask is how much they use those video services.

the only thing to becarefull of if you have limited data is Streaming live media...

vidoes and music take a lot of data and it's easy to go over your limit.... if you ever try and open pandora app on a smart phone. you actually get a little warning about how streaming music and videos consumes large amounts of data...

I use a website to just download movies and keep a external hard drive plugged in my tv. very useful for me when im deployed or traveling etc...

Thanks guy's, I'm capped at 60gig a month so I should be ok if I'm mindful and watch my limits. Next cap is 80gig for an additional $20 a month
