Was the motor in good working order when it was pulled? Are there any parts with issues to your knowledge?

I never heard it run but the guy I bought it from said it ran fine. The only reason they removed it was because they build truck bodies and the customer they were building this one for wanted a big block chevy so they only needed the rolling chassis. I haven't opened the heads yet but the oil looked fine no filings or anything alarming. Oil even looked quite fresh.

is it an early '04 or lat '04?

well, I was gonna say check the build date. But I don't know how you would on just an engine. I know early '04 trucks had the 10vane turbo, dunno if it's the same on vans. I guess tell me how many vanes are on the exhaust side of the turbo, if it's 10vanes, lemme know how much you want for it. I'll call dibs if it is 10.
