Ok 03 7.3 excursion, dies at idle waiting for the green light or coasting down hill, no warning lights, or any indications from the motor, just dies, after sitting for a couple hours or after unloading from the tow truck it will start and act normal, replaced batteries, alt, and cps with in 1 month, does not happen all the time, no codes showing at all, I'm am lost and wife is NOT happy has happened to her once and me twice, any ideas??:dunno: please help thanks snowman
I had the dealer replace the cps under recall about 16 months ago, and then I replaced a grey one cps with a black one from auto zone 4 days ago, also when it dies it will not restart for while some where around 20 minutes or so.
the "new" gray cps sensors do still fail. just not as high of a fail rate. the good thing is they are alot cheaper then they used to be. check codes, if it's the cps sensor then there should be a code stored in the pcm. what kind of code reader are you using?
if you have a scanner that can watch live data. you can watch rpm while cranking after it stalls and see if it's reading. That's the best way I know of.
it could.... but im betting your stalling problem is the CPS, but you will have issues with the ICP if its not haveing issues now. it will cause a bad idle, and hard starts when hot.
So I was playing with the 10K mod the other day and noticed oil in my ICP connector (I didn't think there was anything wrong with that so I just carried on with my playing). Based on this thread I should consider my ICP bad or heading that way and start working on a replacement? (hate to waste money on a good sensor when I'm in need of gauges).
The 10k & 5.6k mods are good as far as getting a little more pick up, but are baaaaaaaaaaaad for the ICP sensor. I speak from experience. It's nothing but trouble over time & ICP sensors ain't cheap, ebay or not.
Ok 3rd cps and now it dies after 30 minutesa idling in the drive way, no codes and tach does not move when cranking, will not start as of yet WTF
