It's actually not any louder in the cab until you really get on it. At 2000 rpm cruising down the highway most people don't notice the difference in cab noise. Romp on it at 3300 rpm and all bets are off! It has a nice bark, but even at it's worst it's really not obnoxious.
I have a mbrp 5'' and its great. I love the sound of this exhaust. No converter, 4'' downpipe and flow through muffler. Its a nice hmm sound at about 55mph but above 55 you can't hardly tell the difference. My wife was beside me on the interstate and she said it sounded like a 18 wheeler.
Get the system and just leave the MBRP muffler in place, no restriction anyway and will make it quieter than without it too!! Plus the muffler delete is an optional part and not getting it will save you money for other mods. Call us Monday and we'll be glad to help you on it and give you suggestions etc.
For the extra few buck I would get the cat delete. The muffler flows very nice, and only takes the edge off of the straight pipe sound. I think you will be very happy with that setup. That is what I currently run. Calm enough for the suburbs, but when I tromp on it my 2 boys scream "WOOO HOOO!" The cat is what kills the nice V8 rumble.
Love my 4'' Turbo back from MBRP!!! Windows up, and you can whisper to your buddy in the back seat. But once you hear the sound it makes with the windows down, you wont have the windows up while driving, atleast mine go down right when I start the truck and dont go up till I shut her off.
I get complements all the time for how it sounds. Had one guy in a dodge follow me for about 10 miles till he could get beside me and tell me how much he like the sound, and how awsome it was. Wanted to know what I had done to it.
