I have two small things that im trying to figure out. First, sometimes when i crank my truck it will spin a couple times and fire right up to the idel. Other times it will spin over a slight bit longer and fire at a very low RPM and make its way up to idle, only take a couple secs but its very noticeable. Any ideas.
Second, My brother in law was following me the other day and when i got on it to pass some one he said a small puff of blue smoke came out and it did it a couple times when passing.
my 04 with the Six Oh did the startup and low crappy idle the other day for the first time... Has'nt done it since, and i was low on fuel, just assumed it was related to that. I dunno. Sorry any help I know...
my truck dose the same thing starting i think it might have something to do with having original glow plugs i am going to be changing mine soon.
blue smoke from i understand is oil. i know for a 6.0 it wouldn't be out of the ordinary to see a bad turbo. you could even pull the intake tube at the turbo inlet and see if there is heavy oil residue.
I guess it might be the Glow plugs. It usually wont do it if its really warm but if its been sitting for a while it will do it. Is it a big job to replace the glow plugs? Is there a better aftermarket set up that is recomended? Thanks
it is not glowplugs, you need to hook it up to a scanner and check it while cranking, could be icp or maybe hpop orings leaking who knows without scanner.and the blue smoke could also be a number of things, orings on injectors leaking, turbo like said above.
you need to keep an eye on your icp pressure while cranking and see if it is working properly,it has been awile since i had one hooked on a 6oh.you can also check for codes you could also buzz injectors and cont.test to see if you have any other issues.that is just were i would start especially if you have a scanner handy that you can use.
i think it needs 500,that should be about right.like i said it have been awile.i have also seen that problem with 6.0 that only need a new reflash from the dealer so that might also be a option if you find nothing else.
I had the latest flash put on it the truck in Oct of 2007 from Ford. The way the truck cranks reminds me of a truck that is cranking with low fuel pressure. But my FP is ok.
Will i have to remove alot of stuff to get to the sensor? I have read so far that it is located on the back of the motor below the turbo. What is the best way to replace it? Thanks again for all the advice.
I took her to ford to fix a turbo problem so while they had it in i asked them to check this out. They said my ICP is good and they installed the latest flash to try to fix the strange cranking issue. It cranked fine several times but then about the 5th crank it did it again. It runs awsome so I guess ill leave it alone, unless some one knows anything else I can check. Just wanted to give an update for thoes who gave me some advice. Thanks.
