I have a 97' F250 psd sb cewcab. I have never tried to changed the rear differential fluid before. How hard is it to do it? if so what types of fluid do you guys think and how much will I need to buy?

Thanks for your help. I just instaled Tymar intake bought from Dale and instaled 5" Magnaflow cat back exhaust. :chicken:

Just remove bolts, drop pan, clean it out. Re-do gasket and replace... then fill with 75W90 I believe.

I have a video online somehwere on what and how to do it bue I can't find it.

I've done it on a few vehicles before. It's a simple task. I like Royal Purple synthetic, but I cannot remember how much I used. I think I bought 3 bottles. All you need is a new gasket, some brake parts cleaner (to clean up the inside after darining the gear lube) and the new fluid.

Just did a fluid change on my truck and have to say the refill sucked!! there is just no easy way to do that unless you have a pump of some sort to do it. i was using a funnel and a length of plastic tubing since that was all i had, the design of all the stuff around the diff is kinda stupid and the fact that there is a flange above the hole made it much worse. otherwise all went well, changed it to amsoil 75/140. also put in some diff lock fluid to make sure of the proper working due to having a LS diff.

Just about the same, your may take a little more or a little less. Just do it. LOL I did mine at 20,000 miles and used the Royal Purple.

What amount of gear oil do you use?

Also all the gear oil bottles I've seen look kinda like a squirt bottle. So why couldn't you just slip a hose over the end of the bottle, and put the other end in the diff, and squeeze?

At a 146,000 you need to get it done. It's not that big a deal, I pulled the cover off
and cleaned everything out real good and refilled with R/P.
