I'm going to be changing out my fuel filter for the first time. Does the cap just screw off or is there a screw(s) that needs to be undone first?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Nope the Cap just screws off. It's kinda on tight so you can buy the tool to get it off or make one or use a punch and a hammer just don't hit it to hard or it will break the fins off the lid.

welcome to the site!

The cap just screws off. what kind of truck do you have?

Just, rumove the filter topand install a new filter. The bad thing about your truck is the fuel drain valve tends to leak after draining the fuel. If you drain it, check for a fuel leak around the valve and out of the drain tube under the alternator.

Fuel Filter Cap

The first time I was going to change the filter I took it in for a oil change and watched all the fluid changes. I even got under the truck. The way they pull the filter cam is with a 1/2 socket with no socket attached.
It's the easy way. Just be carefull not to get to carried away and break the top. barnyard
