I have a 2006 PSD Super Cab 4X4 with 3.73 gears. I am running factory tires and rims but want to step up to a lager tire size. I have bought Mickey Thompson Classic II's (17X9) and want to wrap them with 35's. I belive that I will need at least a levelling kit to do this as the rims are going to stick out an extra 2.5" from where they sit now. Here are my questions:

1. Will 35's fit with no levelling kit?
2. With 3.73 gears will I notice a big change in power? I pull an 8,000lb travel trailer and a 1000lbs of gear in the box of the truck.

If you have a similar set up please attach some pics to your reply.

Thanks

The problem your going to have is getting those rims to fit. The 05-07 brake rotors are bigger than the previous 03-04 truck. But to answer your questions, I think your going to need the 2.5" leveling kit to use the 35's. I'm not sure how they will affect your towing abilities though. I know when I went to bigger tires on my old 150, I did notice a difference, but not much. I only went up a couple inches in height, but the width is where the extra weight came from.

I am with the other guy. those rims may be to small. I just looked at mine and i have 18x9 4.75 backspacing and have about 1/2" of clearance between caliber and rim. I would test fit a rim on the front and make sure before going any further. I you are worried about the lose in power better just stick with want you all ready have.

He is taking off his 17's and putting the same size back on, as long as the back spacing is correct. I was under the same impression you are about them having to be at least 18's. Maybe my wheels are bigger because I have a 350 instead of a 250 :dunno:

I have heard from a lot of people that 17's won't fit on the newer trucks :dunno:. That's all I had to go on. My rims are 18's on my 350. That's cool that I may be able to use 17's, cause the tires are cheap, and so are the rims.

I'm not sure that going to 35's on a powerstroke is going to affect the towing very much, you may not even notice the change in gearing :ford:

Post up pics when you get her finished up :thumb:

I had a friend that put 35's on his truck, with the same gearing as you, and he never complained about towing his 10k 5er. His is a 6spd though, so that will make a difference

I think that you will be fine going with the 35's. When I was running 35's I had no trouble towing!
