I am in the process of doing new brake pads on both front and rear of a 2006 F-350 4x4 SRW, and I cannot figure out what these clips are for. I used the other retaining clips on the new pads, but when I disassembled I did not find anything that halfway resembled these. Extra parts? :dunno:
I just did a 911 brake job on the rear of my '06 F250 this past weekend. The aftermarket cheapo pads that I used to last me a few more weeks till my other rotors and pads come in did not have those clips you have pictured. The OEM Ford pads I was replacing did have those clips you have pictured plus the other clips that you used...If that makes any sense. Maybe the pads were changed before and whoever did it used aftermarket pads without those clips pictured??
See if this helps. This diagram shows where those clips go. If not, post a pic of the brake pad with the steel backing plate out and we can go from there...
It will be obvious when you put them on, the springy part will be narrower where the brake is put on and larger in the back, they sould go on easier too when installed the right way.
Do Not have to pull the hub,, The Rotor is held on by the lug nuts on a F250
